The industrial revolution (aka the $$ revolution) diverted our interest of maintaining a healthy planet and refocused our attention into making money and turning the care of our planet in to the next generations problem. The next generation, like tomorrow, never gets here so no one is taking on the responsibility. The environmental growing pains experienced in the 1960s America, are now being revisited by China in the year 2008. The monies used to grease (lobbying) the governmental skids and side stepping environmental issues could be better spent in R&D, design, and engineering.
